Balayage and Hair Color Trends for Fall at Maribou Salons in Folsom and Roseville CA
Brunette Balayage, Shadow Root Blondes, Chunky Highlights and Hair Color Blocking
Hair color not only brings a uniqueness to your personal style, but it also has a way of rejuvenating your look. Adding highlights and lowlights can visually contour the face and accent the way your hair falls naturally, no matter if you have straight hair, waves, or curls. Highlights can also help conceal grey hair, give you a more youthful look by flattering your complexion, and even give fine hair more body. So, it’s only natural when we need a pick-me-up, we call upon our favorite hair stylist. And Fall is no exception. When the days grow shorter and the air a little crisper, our hair salons in Folsom and Roseville are buzzing. Here are the trends coming out of Maribou Salon:
Fall in Love with Balayage Highlights
If you’ve never tried balayage before, fall is a great time to discover this highlighting technique. For those who are accustomed to traditional foil highlights, you’ll definitely notice a difference. With balayage, you still have that lightening effect, but it’s more about placement and intensity. Balayage highlights are not as close to the scalp as foil highlights and focus on the lengths of the hair. This creates a shadow root effect where you have a darker base color near the roots. Balayage is very casual and lived-in looking, regrowth is part of the look.
You’ll also notice that balayage is more subtle than foil highlights, there is less lift in color so the brightness is not as intense. However, with different placements and larger sections of hair, the overall lightening effect is just as powerful. And that’s great news for those with darker blonde hair, brunettes, red hair and darkest brown hair who want dimension and visible lighter hair but don’t want all the bling of super blonde.

Dimensional Blondes and Shadow Root
Blonde hair gets a little richer for Fall with added dimension. After getting your blonde highlights, go for a shadow root. Your stylist will either leave more of your natural color showing at the top of the head or apply a demi permanent hair color just the roots to create the look.
Chunky Highlights & Color Blocking
We're getting a lot of request for those chunky highlights and accent pieces along with color blocking, the large sections of contrasting color inspired by the 90s. More than just chunky highlights, color blocking can be one hair color on one side, a different color on the other. One side light, and one side dark. Talk about the best of both worlds!
